It has been a week since I sent my university application through UCAS and I am really excited and looking forward to receiving feedback from the universities which I have applied. However, today I will share my own experiences to help you in choosing a right university and send your application to your dream universities.
First of all, you have to decide the major which you will study in the future. This could be Finance and Accounting, Business Management, Engineer or Economics which is the major that I choose. Despite your parent advice or their current jobs, this must be your choice as it is related to your future job and nobody can learn and perform well when learning a subject which they do not like.
After have chosen your major, the next step is to do a research. There are numerous of the website that you can check the university’s ranking, quality of teaching or facilities, social life. My recommend are QS University Ranking, The Guardian League Table or The Complete University Guide.
These websites have a really high reputation and many students including the UK and non-UK use these tools to search for their universities choice. Not only can you search universities rank by year, but also can search by subject which is really helpful. If you want to discuss the university choice there is a website called The Student Room will help you or Unibuddy which allows you to chat with students in a particular university that you interested in. All you need to do is post your questions and the other students who have more experience will try to help you. However, these are just a preferences for you in order to help you in choosing 5 universities choices, the rest depends on your ability.
Finally, it is time to sign in your UCAS account and send your application away. Do bear in mind that your personal statement is important too as universities will read and judge you due to that. So try not to make any grammar mistake, run it through several grammar checker programs like Grammarly, Virtual Grammar Checker… or find a friend to read it again with you. Lastly, check your 5 university choices again and make sure that the choices are yours not others. Ohh!! Some universities have the Sandwich courses which allow you to work in a company as an internship for a year. It could be great as you can gain a lot of knowledge from a workplace and it makes your CV more attractive.
That is all for now! I hope you will choose universities which are suitable for you to study at and have a marvelous time there. Good luck!!
